Do I need patient inform consent?

Before submitting a case, remember that it is your responsibility to get the inform consent of your patient, as anonymity is sometimes not enough to guarantee confidentiality. Indeed, even if exceptional, there might be a risk of disclosure. Our inform and consent form is inspired from good practices regarding publishing case-report.

How should I submit a case?

To submit a case, after being logged, you will have to fill a template which will gather information on the following points: 1) disease (symptoms, health issues,...), 2) work and exposure, 3) work-relatedness assessment or considerations, 4) follow up information if any.

The template can be filled directly on line, or be first downloaded (for instance, if you want to work on outside the web-connection, and copy-paste later your text in the corresponding area on the submission webpage). You have the possibility to upload documents (pictures, MSDS, etc).

What will happen once the case submitted?

OccWatch members will automatically be sent an email that a new case-report has been submitted. You will automatically be informed by emails when comments have been post regarding your case-report. You will then be able to consider the comments, react on them, answer queries, add information, etc.

To consider this new information pertaining to your case, you will have to login with your personal identifiers on the OccWatch website again.

Which case-reports are worth being notified?

If you are physician, you have the possibility to submit a case-report of potentially new occupational diseases (OD). It might refer to a new (previously not known or not well described) association between an agent and a disease ("new couple"). It might also refer to a new situation of exposure ("new triad" disease x agent x circumstance of exposure). You might also want to submit a case of a potential emerging disease for any other reason.
